The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is seeking part-time Store Assistants for our Museum Gift Shop, located in the picturesque Harbor.
Founded in 2000, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum is a non-profit Museum that houses a wide breadth of Santa Barbara’s rich maritime history. We are a small group of dedicated individuals looking to add another 1-2 people to our team.
This is a permanent entry level position, beginning immediately, with the opportunity to later expand to other departments such as events, education, and curatorial. Work would be 1-2 days a week, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, potentially any day of the week except Wednesday. Starting pay is $12.00/hr.
Ideally candidates will have some retail experience, but experience isn’t necessary. However, a willingness to learn is required, and an interest in museum or maritime studies is preferred.
Store Assistants will:
-Sell tickets to the Museum as well as gift shop merchandise.
-Take phone, email and in-person reservations for Museum events.
-Learn about the Museum and surrounding Harbor area to provide information to guests.
