The Association of Fundraising Professionals of Santa Barbara / Ventura County named Carol Kallman their Volunteer of the Year for Santa Barbara County. Carol is married to SBMM Board Member Don Barthelmess, and was nominated by SBMM Executive Director Greg Gorga.
One hundred seventy-five years ago tonight the Medford brig Pilgrim–immortalized by Richard Henry Dana, Jr., near midnight under a moon just past full, caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico. She was bound for New Orleans from Thomaston, Maine with a cargo of lime.
