This exhibit is inspired by Mithun’s photographs. He combines those images and translates them into chalk drawings, then finishes using computer techniques. This process takes his images from a first glance or primitive beginning to the use of technology.

Jack Mithun attended art classes at the University of Minnesota and The Art Center in Pasadena, California. He has worked in photography studios in Los Angeles and Minneapolis and he has been a photo journalist for newspapers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He is now retired and pursuing his interests in drawing and photography and is an avid sailor. He said, “I chase nouns; that is, persons, places and things. And of the three, I find people are the most interesting.” His drawings are done with graphite, chalk pastels, and ink. Before printing images, he does some computer enhancement, so the result might be called mixed media.
